Why I LOVE Travelling
Imagine: there’s Anna. She’s born in City A, was raised by parents also born in A. She went to school there, to university, then started working. She met a typical City A guy, married him, etc. She might be happy. But she’s never seen that life could be different from what they’re having in A. She’s been missing something out her whole life.
Travelling opens a brand new world full of opportunities. One gets to know new cultures, new people. There’s a chance to broaden your horizon.
There are, of course, some people leaving and coming back with exactly the same mindset. That’s actually a sad true story. Last Christmas I was in Rome with my mother (that was our first trip together in 17 years’ time) and I asked her in a I-wanna-know-everything-childish way:
“Mom, tell me, why are there so many Russians who remain so narrow-minded and conservative people not opening their eyes and minds to those beautiful things around them even if they’re visiting such nice places?”
My mother is a very wise woman. She gave me such a I-know-all-the-answers look and said:
“Look there, you see that group of Russian tourists? You remember how you were travelling with your classmates when you were in school? They’re in a group like in a herd.
They never split up for more than a lunch break and they preserve this herd mentality. The moment someone has an opinion different from a common one, he or she is subject to everyone else’s criticism.
This way of sticking together doesn’t let them “broaden their horizon” as you like to say.”
That was the moment I realized it is not about travelling – It’s about the way you travel.
So give me the chance to lead you through this. Let’s discover the world in another way.
In a way that will let you pay attention to things you’ve never noticed, things that will amaze you and take your breath away. Things that will change everything.
Let our journey begin!
Best,
Elisabeth
